When I was a child, we lived behind a country club that shot off fireworks for the 4th of July.
It terrified me.
I’m not sure why I was so frightened of the noise. I later overcame the fear. The 60s and 70s rock-n-roll drowned it out in later years.
Today, I love watching fireworks, although I am not crazy about the home-spun versions. Fortunately, I have not heard too many this weekend. Perhaps we found something we can actually be grateful for from the tough economic times.
Holiday Blessings
Holidays often have me thinking about family – our traditions, and our own kind of noise.
Now, that’s a noise I didn’t run from.
Happy 4th of July to our American friends and family. And to our non-American friends, thanks for keeping the light on for us.

Kim-the bow lasted about as long as it took to get the photo. 🙂 You have a great 4th, too!
