Not too long ago, when a person did what many in the world considered crazy, they would say that person was going through a mid-life crisis. I have come to the conclusion that for most people it’s just called getting older.
The last few years, I found myself to be more and more dissatisfied with my career. It had nothing to do with my employers and everything to do with me. I have always wanted to write for a living. So after 30+ years in the corporate world, I quit my “day job” to freelance as a writer. I decided to do this during one of the worst economic times in history! Many would say I fried my Baby Boomer brain cells – or I am having a mid-life crisis.
I invite you all to share your stories and take this journey together. I wish you much success in your chosen path and may you always know laughter.

Cathy, what a great blog. Is it possible that I had my mid-life crisis at 34? Selling the business and buying the farm…literally! I sold my 401(k) suit and tie consulting practice and bought the most beautiful 164 acre farm in Costa Rica and am now turning that in to Costa Rica’s first clinical wellness community; La Joya Perfecta, Costa Rica, “The Center of Wellness.” Please take a peek when you can at our website http://www.costaricanwellness.com and check out our blog, http://www.costaricaviews.com. Bret:
You are my very 1st person to my blog! So good to hear from you. I just got this up and running and now need to “market” it for fun. I will definitely not keep you a secret. If I can get more people to my blog, we’ll definitely get the word out. I think you helped inspire me to follow my dream. I hope you are doing well and keep in touch.
Thanks for sharing your journey! Let’s hope many more will follow.

Cathy:
I am very pleased — and proud to see that you have set up your own blog. What a liberating moment it must have been: along with the angst and anticipation!
Don’t be discouraged about whether anyone follows you…just WRITE. I promise you that they will come if you simply commit to express yourself in a regular basis. I think it took me 2-3 years to get my footing in the blogosphere and I’ve been writing for – how long now?
So write on, big sis, write on. The world wants to hear what you have to say. I know I do.
peace and love always,
Kevin

Thank you for the encouraging words. I need to let others know my blog is out there. Somehow I have not gotten around to that. I’m still trying to see how to best set up the “mechanics.” With my new career comes many challenges but I know I have to follow this through. It is definitely a journey and one I’ve just begun. Stay tuned…
Peace, love & laughter,
Cathy

Congratulations on your blog, Cathy! I’ve always been a fan of everything you do. You may have been “born” to insurance, but I offer another reason … what is insurance but words? Powerful, meaningful words … the building blocks of the great writing you produce.
Your gutsy move to follow your talent inspires me to bring my love of writing out of the closet.
Hugs and thumbs up to you!
Jan

Thank you, Jan. You, more than anyone, know what it’s like to adapt to what life throws at you. Little did you know that yours would come in a form of a tornado! We seldom realize how strong we truly are until we face those life challenges. Follow your heart, my friend. It will not steer you wrong.
Hugs back!
